Introduction


The library of the Institute of Geophysics was established in 1338, started with a collection of more than 1000 books, most of which were donated, and then from 2000 to 1994, the number of resources gradually increased to three thousands, available in  Persian and Latin language, in various fields of physics and space. also 102 foreign and domestic scientific journals Was integrated into the library's resources.

 
 
 

Currently, the number of books in the library has exceeded  thirteen thousands ,mainly in the fields of geophysical and meteorological sciences, of which about 8000 are in Latin and the rest are in Persian. Currently, 185 different Latin journals in close cooperation with the library and also, a number of journals can be retrieved electronically through the databases of the University of Tehran (full text or abstract).

 
 
 
 

The cataloguing and classification system in the library is identical to the national library of Iran method as well as the united states library of Congress's method, and the shelving system is open. there is also a comprehensive software which connects the library's database to the central library of University of Tehran that makes the classification process convenient.

 
 

 

And finally there is a web-based library searching system available for all students giving them the permission to access library resources and reserve the books they require.
